Its intresting this concept of macrocosm and microcosm and how they can both become a reflection on each other. For me it reflected the idea of life being something so hard to comprehend and perhaps even something that cannot be defined or understood but yet it has can still have purpose.
This is BIll Viola’s most minimalistic work when you look at it, with no complexities, it is in fact just a drop but the sensitivity and timing is so precise with tension that it is almost unwatchable when you know what will happen and how it will repeat itself. From Viola’s work you can see he had two streams, one is from experience; watching these raindrops on his glasses and the other from general research or background; going home and testing it out. This is a reflection on the ideas and thoughts Viola was contemplating during this period of time.
The idea of Paraphernalia used today is becoming so vast and accessible that it was useful to have a quick read of the pop art movement and seeing how everyday household object became the subject of art.

My response in playing with ideas in seeing how daily things like getting the grocery can be done, and now most are open with 24hrs service.

THERE & BACK. AGAIN
A collaboration with Peter Blake. The exhibition was made for fashion brand “beanpole” and consisted of 10 individual prints paired with film loops projected through miniature video units. Each is triggered by infra red sensors. All the films run as continuous loops, which in turn becomes a metaphor on the action of cycling (the repetition).
Watching the same film loop over and over forces the viewer to see new details during each replay. This was something I could reflect in how daily things are affected and the way in which new things are seen without be realised.
The title for the show “there & back . again” is a play on the cyclical nature of the images and the outcome. Each time a loop activates, singular musical chimes embedded into the films merge throughout the space. this creates an ever changing sound score triggered each time a loop is activated.
